Microneedling
FACE & BODY SKIN HEALING & REJUVENATION
The Goddess Factor® Advanced Aesthetics Clinic
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling also known as Mesotherapy or Fractional Collagen Induction Therapy is a highly effective treatment for skin rejuvenation, scar reduction & de-aging. It accelerates skin regeneration to stimulate your skin’s natural ability to heal itself and produce collagen & elastin. It is a minimally invasive procedure that consists of multiple micro injections introduced into the meso-dermal layer of tissue.
What skin conditions does it treat?
On the face, neck and décolleté it treats expression lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne and pockmarks or depressed scarring and it visibly reduces dilated pores. It is also effective for Rosacea. On the body it is helps to repair and enhance the appearance of uneven wrinkly skin, stretch-marks & cellulite on abdomen, legs, and arms.
How safe and effective is Microneedling and is it painful?
It is just as effective as fractional laser resurfacing, without the extended downtime. For best results, you will need a few sessions though. It is semi-invasive and pain-free because a compounded numbing cream is applied to the treatment area beforehand. It is safe for all skin types and colours.
Does Microneedling stimulate collagen?
Yes, that is why it is also known as Collagen Induction Therapy. It promotes formation of collagen and strengthens the skin’s elasticity network which gets flimsy and weak with age if the skin is not properly cared for. Therefore, skin maintenance is of utmost importance!
What conditions are contra-indicated for Micro-needling?
*Active skin infection
*Active acne
*Keloid / raised scarring
*Unstable skin types
*Psoriasis & Eczema
What does the Microneedling procedure entail?
The procedure involves the use of a pen-like device made up of minute microneedles.
The needles vary in size from 1mm to 3mm.
*Firstly, the skin is numbed for approximately 30 minutes
*The numbing cream is removed, and the skin is thoroughly cleansed
*Depending on the individual’s skin needs, a suitable serum is applied
*These serums have a high concentration of natural growth factors that encourage new skin cells to form to produce more collagen & elastin
*The device is activated and uses tiny needles to create numerous micro-punctures that trigger the skin’s wound healing response. Minimally noticeable trauma is caused to the upper epidermal layer. At a deeper dermal layer microscopic injury and minor bleeding occurs. The magic and repair happen below the surface of the skin! The body naturally starts producing new tissue, creating collagen fibres.
Remember, the skin’s natural response is to heal and repair itself!
When are results visible?
Within 2 weeks most clients notice healthier, tightened and glowing skin.
With regular treatments – the frequency thereof will be advised by the Aesthetician – clients usually start seeing a visible difference and improvement in the appearance of skin irregularities within 8 – 12 weeks.
Can any beauty therapist perform this treatment?
No, because this is a specialised procedure. Please make sure to always have this minimally invasive procedure performed by a fully trained Aesthetician or Somatology practitioner!
Why should I consider Microneedling?
This non-surgical procedure refines and rejuvenates skin. It is one of the most effective De-aging treatments that give lasting results when one considers skin revival.

Microneedling After-care – Of Utmost Importance!
Like with any state-of-the-art skin procedure, after-care instructions must be followed to attain maximum results.
Microneedling creates micro pricks or small wounds in the skin that leaves it red and feeling tight & warm, similar to having mild sunburn. This is normal and will typically subside within a few hours. The skin can take 24 – 48 hours to calm down, but it depends entirely on the reaction of the individual’s skin and the area treated.
The main thing to consider is that your pores are temporarily open and bacterial infection must be avoided at all costs.
The aesthetician will advise how to treat your skin for the first 3 days after treatment to cleanse, soothe and protect it. You may not be able to return to your normal skincare regime immediately but can do so on day 3 post-treatment.
CLEANSING – For the first 24 hours after treatment, rinse the area gently with lukewarm water and dry with a fresh, clean towel. Always make sure your hands are clean before touching the treated area. DO NOT USE ITEMS LIKE WET WIPES as this will introduce bacteria.
If you’ve had a face treatment, please sleep on a fresh pillowcase
HEALING – A serum for post-treatment use is provided; it will help to heal the skin and reduce irritation
MOISTURISING – Your skin may feel dryer than usual. Our aestheticians will recommend the correct Dr Gobac® Cosmeceuticals or Lamelle Laboratories products for your skin’s needs to restore it back to perfect balance
STIMULATING – As the skin starts to regenerate after your treatment, products containing collagen-stimulating peptides, like Dr Gobac® Cosmeceuticals with 10 Hexa-peptides, will maximise the effects of the stimulation started by the process of Microneedling.
PROTECTING – After your procedure, your skincare professional will apply Dr Gobac® Cosmeceuticals or Lamelle Sunscreen with minimum SPF 25. You should continue to use this daily and in perpetuity!
It should be part of your skincare routine as this protects your skin from sun damage, skin cancer, hyper-pigmentation, and premature aging. It is best not to have sun exposure for
72 hours after your treatment.
MAKE-UP APPLICATION – We recommend you only apply make-up 24 – 48 hours after your treatment to give the pores time to close and for the skin to calm down. Please ensure that all make-up accessories such as sponges, and brushes are freshly cleaned in soapy water and well rinsed and dried before using them. Remember to wash your hands well before applying your make-up.
MORE AFTER-CARE PRECAUTIONS….TO BE SURE TO BE SURE!
*Do not use any scrubs, active skincare, Vitamin A (Retinol) or electric cleansing brushes for one-week post-treatment
*Avoid intentional and direct sunlight for at least 72 hours
*Definitely, no tanning beds. You should avoid them anyway!
*Always wear Sunscreen.
*No swimming or jacuzzi for 72 hours post-treatment, especially in a public facility
*No gym or strenuous exercise or activity for the first 72 hours after your treatment. Gym environments and the like are breeding grounds for harmful bacteria. This could cause adverse reactions in your skin.
